Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority Clear Fork Rail Trail Phase II Public Notification Notice of Intent to File Application

The Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority intends to file an application for federal assistance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a Brownfields Cleanup Grant among other funding sources.  The purpose of this notice is to provide the public with an opportunity to become acquainted with the proposed Clear Fork Rail Trail Phase II Project and receive public comment.

The proposed Clear Fork Rail Trail Phase II is to involve property purchased from CSX Transportation, Inc which requires environmental remediation in the form of capping the property extent of the former rail line path.  The proposed project scope of work is to include construction of approximately seven miles of capped non-motorized recreational rail trail, construction of a new 185-foot trail bridge, renovation of 245-foot trail trestle, demolition of an existing trestle, trail access, signage, and related appurtenances.  

Also, this notice is to inform the public of a public meeting to be held in-person and by Zoom Video Conference on November 1, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at the Raleigh County Commission chambers at 116 ½ N. Heber Street, Beckley, WV 25801.  If attending remotely by Zoom Video Conference, you must pre-register to attend the meeting at https://www.regiononepdc.org/firm.  After pre-registering you will receive an email from Zoom with unique conference call login information.  Individuals interested in the Clear Fork Rail Trail Phase II are encouraged to participate.
